Sweet Rocket,Garden Rocket,Hesperis matronalis L. (Brassicaceae)Dame's Violet, or Rogue's Gilliflower
Once used as a salad vegetable, Dames Rocket was also widely used in medicine, mostly as an antiscorbutic. Heritage gardens in North America include the wonderfully night-scented, tall stands of flowers.
Dames Rocket was formerly used as a pot plant. Introduced by seed to North America, the plant readily takes to the soil and grows prolifically in the wild. It is considered a level 2 nuisance in the US, in some States, and burned down.
The properties of the cultivated Rocket resemble those of the Cochlearea, but its taste is less acrid and piquant.(Grieves)
