Originating in the Far East, Litchi may also be grown in Antilles,Israel,Florida and California(US)and Australia.

Fairly recent studies into antigens which guard against Hepatitis,and,potentially,some other viral liver disorders,prove Litchi to be the second most effective herbal source for HBsAg.
Used in Chinese acupuncture, Litchi is an excellent source of Vitamin C and a water-producing factor.

Alkenols & Molecular Structures

A number of alkenols (and alkadienols) are extremely important to flavors and fragrances as well as being characterizing aroma constituents for certain natural products (e.g., green grass, mushrooms).


Odor Detection Threshold (in water) = 6 ppb
Powerful watermelon with slight citrus nuance odor.

1-Octen-3-ol...C8H16O occurs in products such as: "..many  products of nature, including Litchi chinensis. The odor is described as "powerful mushroom."
